Overview
Electrocardiography is a fast, non-invasive test: electrodes on the chest and limbs record several seconds of rhythm. It is widely used when you have chest discomfort, palpitations, dizziness, before surgery or new medication, or as part of hypertension and cardiac risk review. The tracing is interpreted in context with your history; results are documented in a standard format your GP or specialist can use immediately.
